We are the biggest and most vibrant cadet unit in Oxford. Better known as "Cowley Air Cadets', we're part of the UK-wide Royal Air Force Air Cadets with more than 40,000 members aged between 12 and 20 years.

We're sponsored by the Royal Air Force and can give you hands-on experience of activities and courses that will challenge and develop your skills giving you real qualifications and experience to help you succeed in whatever you want to do.

Cowley Air Cadets Visit Arnhem

Air Cadets from 2210 Cowley Squadron have visited Arnhem in the Netherlands as part of the annual commemoration of the Battle for Arnhem in 1944. Where soldiers and airmen from the Airborne Forces and Royal Air Force attempted to liberate Arnhem and capture the bridge crossing the Rhine river by glider and parachute drop. Continue reading

Air Cadets to Commemoration the Battle of Arnhem

On Wednesday 26 August representatives from the Parachute Regiment Association, the Royal Air Forces Association and the Royal British Legion Branches of Oxfordshire passed to Air Cadets from 2210 Cowley Squadron wreathes to lay at the Oosterbeek War Cemetery on their behalf when 70 cadets and staff from Thames Valley Wing travel to Arnhem in the Netherlands to take part in the Airborne March, which is part of the commemorations of the 1944 Battle for Arnhem.

Airborne March

Thames Valley Wing will be participating in the Airborne March, which is part of the commemorations of the Battle for Arnhem in the Netherlands in 1944. The Airborne March is in memory to the 1750 plus British and Polish soldiers who lost their lives in the Battle of Arnhem in September 1944 and who are buried in the War Cemetery at Oosterbeek. The March takes place on the first Saturday in September each year. The first march was held in 1947. Continue reading

Air Cadets get certified!

On Wednesday the 25th of February Wing Commander Fisher, Officer Commanding Thames Valley of the Royal Air Force Air Cadets visited 2210 Squadron based in Sandy Lane West to present to cadets and Sgt Morley certificates ranging from first aid courses to aviation subjects and leadership training qualifications. Wing Commander Fisher presented Sgt Morley with the Regional Commandants Commendation for Meritorious Service, a well deserved recognition and award for his hard work and dedication to the cadets of 2210 Squadron.

NACATC Windermere

October half term week saw 18 Cadets and 9 Staff travel from all over Thames Valley Wing (TVW) to the National Air Cadet Adventure Training Centre (NACATC), Windermere for a week of Adventure Training in the spectacular landscape of the Lake District.

The primary aim of the Centre is to provide facilities for cadets to participate in adventure training in terrain more demanding than that normally found in their local area.  Taking full advantage of the facilities and equipment available from the centre, the TVW cadets were able to have a go at mountain walking, wild camping, canoeing, indoor wall climbing and outdoor rock climbing, orienteering, geocaching and mountain biking. Cowley Training Weekend

During the weekend of 13-14 December cadets from 2210 Squadron of the Royal Air Force Air Cadets, based in Sandy Lane West, Oxford attended training courses at RAF Halton.

Cadet Sergeant Karen Furlong and Cadet Priyank Gandhi completed and passed their St John’s Ambulance Youth First Aid qualification, while Cadet Corporal Lilly August and Cadet Nic Nanthacumar competed their Expedition First Aid Course. Continue reading
