Cowley Training Weekend

During the weekend of 13-14 December cadets from 2210 Squadron of the Royal Air Force Air Cadets, based in Sandy Lane West, Oxford attended training courses at RAF Halton.

Cadet Sergeant Karen Furlong and Cadet Priyank Gandhi completed and passed their St John’s Ambulance Youth First Aid qualification, while Cadet Corporal Lilly August and Cadet Nic Nanthacumar competed their Expedition First Aid Course.

Cadet Andrzej Chmielewski, meanwhile completed his provisional radio operator training at RAF Halton the same weekend. All passed with flying colours.

Flight Lieutenant Nigel Furlong, the officer commanding 2210 Squadron praised the cadets participation in their training courses “Our cadets give up their time not just for activities such as flying, sports and adventure training but also learning skills important to life and gaining real qualifications relevant to employers.”

2210 Cowley Squadron is part of the Royal Air Force Air Cadets and is based in Sandy Lane West, Blackbird Leys and is the largest and most active of the three air cadet units in the Oxford Area. The squadron is open to new cadets all year round and meets on Monday and Wednesday evenings each week, every week other than the week between Christmas and New Year.
