Cadet and Staff Remember the Fallen

For the past few years cadets and staff from 1861 (Wantage) and 2410 (Didcot) squadrons have attended a D-Day memorial service at Harwell. This year saw the 70th anniversary to which the cadets were invited to provide a guard of honour for this year’s memorial service.

20 cadets and 7 staff members gather on the Saturday in glorious weather to join the local community in paying their respects to those who took part on the day. Along the path leading up to the memorial stone cadets lined the sides to show their respects as representatives from the various organisations in the area laid down wreaths to remember those who served and those who lost their lives during the campaign. CWO J Taylor, 2410 sqn and Cdt Heason, 1861 sqn both were chosen to represent their squadrons in showing their respects during the service.

2410 (Didcot) squadron spent the day joining in the activities that we taking place to remember the day with the WASP in action and educating the younger members of the community about this day and the RAF today.  RAF Harwell played an important part in the war efforts and all the cadets and staff that attended were proud to represent the Air Training Corps at this event.
